Teacher Mentoring
So I have to mentor a teacher or new technoligies and web 2.0. My partner and I have conntacted our teacher and she wants us to also mentor her class. This is not part of the assignment so my partner and I are torn as to what we should do.

A New Teacher with New Resources
When I started this semester, I thought had an idea of what classes and teachers were like in college. I thought that classes were the typical teacher lectures all class with a little discussion at the end if the class was small enough, homework is very clear and assigned everyday with a specific due date, and communication was only face to face or through email. Well, my World 203 class is NOTHING like that.
My teacher is a down-to-earth, hippie woman who is enriched in the 21st century. Her new age teaching methods go against the "old way" of doing things. She believes that students are responsible for their learning and must be a part of the learning process, not just absorbing information. She wants her students to learn from her and the knowledge she posesses as well as from each other. She designs projects in the class to make us more aware of what is going on in the world and how it affects us.
This class has made me aware of so many useful websites that i didn't even know existed. Before this class I had never used or made a Google Doc and now, I can't stop using them and wished I knew about them sooner. iGoogle is also very useful and has everything I look up on a daily basis complied on one page. I am also more familar with Blackboard and the differennt forms of communication it has to offer. Overall, the technology that this class has introduced me so far has made me a better communicator and I will continue to use them after this class is completed.
Every class, I go into it knowing I am going to leave with more knowledge than I entered with an new ideas and midsets to think about. I am learning about things going on in different parts of the world every class. The global presentations are helping learn to work as a collaberation. We discuss current events at the beginning of every class and this has helped me learn what is going on around me.
I really struggled at the beginning with this course because of all the websites I had to join, accounts I had to create, and I was really unclear how to use all of them. But now I am getting the hang of things and really starting to enjoy the class.
